sweet potato toast Halloween creatures

All you need for this kid-friendly recipe is a toaster and some imagination! Follow our recipe for these three spooky Halloween creatures or come up with your own creations.

Halloween Toasts


  • 1 whole small sweet potato
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • fresh raspberries
  • 1 avocado
  • 12 desiccated coconut
  • your favourite graze snacks


You can peel your sweet potato if you like, or just wash and take off the wobbly bits.

Cut the sweet potato into slices just over half a cm thick and put into your toaster.

Toast on high twice making sure the whole slice is cooking, the result will be slightly browned sweet potato toasts!

Witch's cat: Spread with a circle of peanut butter for the base to stick on the other decorations. Cut a fresh raspberry in half and use the two halves as the ears. For the eyes, we've used two mini dried strawberries, then we've used raspberry strings and a vanilla sponge piece from the for the nose and whiskers. Meow!

Frankenstein's monster: Mash some ripe banana and cover the sweet potato slice, creating texture with a fork. Take another slice and cut the top off with a zig zag shape - sandwich this on top of the avocado to make the monster's jagged hair. We've used carrot crisps and pumpkin seeds for the eyes, a mini breadstick for the mouth and almonds for the bolts!

Spooky ghost: If you've never made coconut butter before, good news - it's super easy! Add the desiccated coconut to a food processor and blend on high for 15 minutes until it turns into a butter consistency (or only 2 minutes if you have a high powered blender!). Spread over the slice and sprinkle on coconut flakes. We've use chocolate drops for the eyes and a dried cranberry for the mouth. Boo!
