swap out sugar

Eating the right snacks can truly transform your day but picking good snacks is often where people get stuck. Many people start the day off with a nourishing breakfast, grab whatever they can for lunch and then when the 3 p.m. sugar cravings kick in they reach for whatever chocolate bar, candy, cookie or coffee is sight on hand. These choices might satisfy them for a little but after 20 minutes the workplace will be full of drowsy, unproductive employees. Swapping out sugary snacks for better options can help improve the overall health and productivity in the workplace.

nutrients over calories

Rather than focusing on the calories employees should look for a nutrient dense snack. A good rule of thumb is to stick to foods that are as least processed as possible. If the ingredients on the label are easily to recognize and pronounce it’s a winning choice! Since busy employees are going to grab whatever is available offices should avoid snacks with empty calories and stock up on snacks that are a source of nutritional benefits like protein or fiber.

make it exciting!

Usually when people think about healthy snacks they think of boring and tasteless options. Stocking the office with delicious, guilt-free snacks can help employees adopt a long-term love of healthy and nutrient-rich foods. In addition to offering delicious snacks, offices should try to offer a large variety of snacks to choose from because having options is more exciting and increases the odds of employees grabbing a nutritious snack.
