frequently asked questions

ratings

How do you select the foods for my boxes?
Rather than you choosing every box individually, we choose based on your ratings. Have a look through 'our range' page and tell us the foods you like, love and are happy to try, and if there's anything you're not so keen on, just click bin. We'll make sure every box is completely personalised to your tastes (rating everything is actually really fast and only takes a few minutes).
Which types of boxes do you offer?
We offer two types of boxes:

the graze fruit box

the graze nibble box

You can select one of our nutrition plans on either type of box, or you can go with no nutriton plan - then we'll send you foods from all of our ranges, including our natural treats
Can I change my ratings?
Yes, you can change your ratings at any time. In fact with each box you receive we would love you to rate each of the foods in it, so we can make sure we always send you the foods you enjoy.
What's 'send soon'?
'Send soon' lets you tell us which specific foods you’d like in your upcoming boxes. To use 'send soon', just tick the box under the product you’d like to get. We’ll do our best to include it in your next box.
What happens if I tick 'send soon' on several different products?
We’ll always try to send you the foods that you’ve ticked most recently first.
Why is 'send soon' sometimes not available?
We only ever send foods of the absolute highest quality. Occasionally we’re not able to source all the perfect ingredients, and when this is the case, you may not be able to tick “send soon” on these.
What happens once a 'send soon' product has been sent to me?
We’ll untick a product as soon as it’s been sent to you. You can see which products you’d ticked as ‘send soon’ by viewing your recent boxes on your deliveries

Any problems - just get in touch.

our food

Is everything in a Graze box natural?
Yes, we never use any artificial colourings, flavourings or preservatives.
Where does my food come from?
We always buy the best quality foods available and our produce is sourced locally wherever possible to support British producers. This means during the peak of the British season our cherries come from British farms. Unfortunately we can't commit to only buying British, because there would be times of the year when we'd have very little to send. There are also products we will never be able to grow here - mangos and cranberries to name a couple.

To ensure the balanced diet and quality that makes the Graze service special, we have to shop around to find the best produce and this means buying from all over the world. But please be assured, if we can find it here, we will.
Where is my food prepared?
We prepare and pack everything in the Graze kitchen, located in a green bit on the outskirts of London.
What about food waste?
We buy and prepare all the fresh produce for your box on the day we send it. This means we're really accurate with our buying keeping food waste to a minimum. The same is true of our longer life 'dry products', which we pack in small amounts to ensure we use it all. Anything left over we give to our local farm. And because all our food comes in individual portions it means no food waste for you (and no extra waist).
Is your food organic?
Our first priority is to find the best tasting food, this means we buy organic when it's the tastiest option. We are currently not organically certified, which means that even though a good proportion of our range is organically grown we cannot say so. This is because the Graze kitchen handles both organic and non organic produce. However, we are looking into packing separately and before too long we will have a completely organic range.
Will my graze box help me towards 5 a day?

Yes. We're officially recognised by the NHS as supporting the 5-a-day scheme, with up to four portions available in each box.

Just 4 apple rings, 3 dates or 2 slices of mango count as a portion of you 5-a-day
Are your products nut free?
Unfortunately we cannot guarantee our products are free from traces of nuts and sesame, although we are working on a solution.
How do I find out the ingredients of your foods?
Just click on each photo in our range and you can see the full ingredients for that product.
What's grazefresh?
grazefresh is our own four step process to ensure that your fresh produce always arrives in great condition.

1. We hand select the best fruit.
2. We wash the fruit really, really well. Fruit that usually goes brown after cutting (apples) is also washed in a combination of vitamins and minerals, keeping it naturally fresh.
3. We use our own specially designed packaging.
4. We buy, prepare and send fresh produce the same day.
Now here comes the science (and a little bit of art) behind the grazefresh process;

The art comes in when we select the fruit; we hand pick all our produce. This is very much an art which involves being the first to market, talking and listening to the growers and most importantly getting hold of the fruit. We touch, taste and smell everything before it comes anywhere near the Graze kitchen.

Fruit is still alive even after they're picked. They keep on respiring (breathing) taking in oxygen and giving off carbon dioxide the same as we do. When fruits stop breathing they die and go bad. Our packaging is designed to keep the atmosphere inside the pack as close to air as possible, allowing carbon dioxide to escape and drawing oxygen in. We have achieved this with specially designed laser perforated holes in the lid of the punnet which are the perfect size to create an air like atmosphere. Another key feature of grazefresh is the absorbent sleeve that takes any moisture away, ensuring the living fruit can keep breathing and all our fresh food stays really really fresh.

Other than breathing, cleanliness is the other vital factor affecting freshness. If you can kill all bacteria from food it will last significantly longer (food lasts in the freezer because bacteria cannot grow). We have therefore designed the Graze kitchen to be bacteria's worst nightmare. The kitchen is unique in fruit preparation; quite simply it's as clean as it gets.

We are really proud of the graze fresh process and we will constantly innovate to improve and increase the diversity of the fresh cut range.
How can I eat my fresh fruit without getting all sticky?
Simple - bamboo forks. We’ve made the most sustainable wood in the world into a really convenient tool to pick up your food. They are made from un-treated bamboo which grows about 15 cm a day – that’s an extra metre every week! And, as with all our box materials, they can easily be recycled.
What's a portion?
The graze nutrition team selects our portion sizes to be both satisfying and nutritious. We provide individual portions of food you can't easily get elsewhere, so you can have a more varied balanced diet.
Is everything in a graze box vegetarian?
Yes, everything in our range is vegetarian.

our boxes

Is my box recyclable?
Yes. And please recycle it.
What are your Nutrition Plans?
The nutrition plans are based on rules set by our nutritionist designed for your dietary and lifestyle goals. Your ratings are also taken into account to ensure you are only sent food you like. We have designed these plans to make a personalised nutritional service easy and accessible to everyone.
Do I need to store my box in the fridge?
We think that fruit tastes much better at room temperature; not being icy cold brings out the flavour. All our produce is designed to live out of the fridge as nature intended.
